We took many photographs and then I started to paint the scene at home.

]]> “It is no small thing to paint a meadow, as every plant has to be painted in from the background forwards, paying attention to scale and perspective and making more distant flowers more muted. It’s not surprising that I ran out of enthusiasm half way down the painting and it remained unfinished for quite a while! However, I rose to the challenge once more and am very pleased with the result.” Sue Newham

“This photo was taken in our back garden in East Sussex. I have rather a love for slightly untidy gardens. The bluebells spread from a small clump during the 18 years we lived there. The apple tree and tulips were there when we moved in. It really was a glorious sight.” Sue
