I painted this scene by applying layers of texture medium (like a very thick PVA glue) to the canvas, creating different textures in the areas of sky, water, hills and trees. Once that layer had dried, I used my fingers to apply the paint, before scratching into the surface and adding detail to give the impression of foreground plants. I really enjoyed creating the painting and have been pleased that several people have recognised where it is, despite it being painted in a loose style.

Llyn Clywedog lies in the hills above Llanidloes, Powys, close to the source of the River Severn.

Dusk over Lake Vyrnwy

This beautiful scene greeted us as we sat on the balcony of the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel on a warm and still summer evening. The lake is beautiful in any season. On this evening, it seemed as if the world was holding its breath in awe. Pink and pale blue shifted to violet and indigo. The tower stood out against the pastel reflections of the sky. It was a magical scene.

Emerald Lake by Inspira

The words on the front of the greetings card read, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

The words on the back give the reference, John 14 : 27

” Emerald Lake is a freshwater lake in Yoho National Park, in the Canadian Rockies. We visited the Rockies in autumn 2011 and were bowled over by the grandeur and beauty of the scenery. ” Sue

Before the mountains by Inspira

The verse on the front of this card reads, “Before the mountains were born, or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” Psalm 90 : 2

The verse on the back reads, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Exodus 20 : 11

This photo was taken on a trip to the Canadian Rockies in the area around Banff.

Peace by Inspira

Greetings cards have the verse as part of the picture. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” John 14 : 27

This photo was taken in the Canadian Rockies, in Kannanaskis country. The scale of the scenery just took my breath away. When we visited, there was not a whisper of breeze and the lake was perfectly peaceful.
