Seagull’s view over Barmouth nears completion (and it’s not red any more!)

I have been working on the amazing view from the hill behind Barmouth for the last 6 months. You may have seen it on Facebook of Instagram at various stages.

I started with a scarlet/ orange base coat before drawing the key features on in pencil and beginning to block in the sea and hills.

Early stages

With approximately 40 boats, 27 buildings and literally dozens of windows, this has been the most challenging painting I have ever tackled. And it is huge too, 90cm by 70cm!

I am hoping to finish it in the next week, and will be holding an open studio, with this painting as the main feature, although other of my works will be on display too.

More details to be posted soon.
