Craig Goch dam, Elan Valley, oil on canvas, £870 plus postage and packing

 

The Elan Valley, in Mid Wales is visited by thousands of visitors, attracted by the majestic hills, amazing reservoirs and wonderful Victorian dams and bridges. Even though it is so popular, you can visit and feel as if you are the only person for a hundred miles. I love this amazing view, and the way the cloud shadows chase across the landscape. The water falling over the dam was fun to paint too. I am really happy with the finished result.

The painting is oil on a canvas.  The canvas measures 60cm square, is 2cm deep and  is painted around the edges.It is unframed.

Painting tip- “Having tiny patches of the same colour across the picture helps to give the final piece a unified feel. You can see that I have small patches of the blue and mauve from the sky and clouds even in the water and in the foreground foliage.” Sue Newham
