Hebden Bridge, oil on canvas backed board, framed, £400 plus postage and packing

I made a bold decision last year that I would enter a plein air painting competition in Hebden Bridge, Calderdale. It was completely out of my comfort zone, and I came nowhere close to finishing within the day of painting. I had a lovely day however. Months on, I have finally finished my painting. It is different in style to others I have painted recently, but I am hoping to try aspects of the style out in other paintings. I have never included myself in a painting before, but somehow it seemed to need an artist in the painting to explain it!
The painting is oil on a canvas board primed with ochre acrylic paint. The canvas measures 42cm by 29.5cm. It is double framed with a slim white inner frame and a mottled grey, wood-effect outer frame.
Painting tip- “It can be a leap of faith to try out a different style, but it is also a good learning opportunity. Getting stuck in a rut is a sad thing for an artist. “ Sue Newham
