Llyn Clywedog, acrylic and acrylic medium on canvas, £80 plus postage and packing

Llyn Clywedog

This view of Llyn Clywedog, near Llanidloes in Mid Wales, is well known to visitors and locals alike. We visited on a glorious sunny day.

I decided to experiment by applying gel medium to the canvas with my fingers first, and then using my fingers to paint the colour, once the medium was dry. Using the gel medium gives the surface a textured and glossy surface. In the foreground, I used the edge of a palette knife to scratch into the paint to create more detail at the front of the view. It was a really enjoyable experiemnt, and I am pleased that more than one person has recognised the location from the painting.

The painting is acrylic and acrylic gel medium on canvas  The canvas measures 50cm x 40cm, is 2cm deep and  is painted around the edges. It is unframed.

Painting tip- “Experimentation is the way to develop new ideas and techniques as an artist. It’s never a good idea to get stuck in a rut.” Sue Newham
