Soar, oil on canvas, £516 plus postage and packing

 

This painting expresses the words of Isaiah 40 which say, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

This painting is created with a range of techniques. Some areas are applied with a brush (the person and sky). Some areas are scraped over with a palette knife to leave a very smooth veiled appearance to the “clouds of tiredness and weariness.” The areas of ground are put on with a palette knife and thicker layers of paint. The haphazard application of paint shows the chaotic background to our lives and experiences.

The canvas measures 35.5cm by 60cm, is 2cm deep and  is painted around the edges. It is unframed.
