Summer foxgloves, oil on canvas, framed £580 (plus Postage and Packing)

Summer foxgloves

This painting was taken from a scene at the Roundton Hill Nature Reserve near Churchstoke, Powys. Sheep are kept on the hill to stop bramble and scrub growing up. This sheep was wandering among tall grass and foxgloves. A beautiful scene.

The painting has been through several revisions to add shadow and contrast, and to try to capture the colour of foxgloves more accurately.

This painting is oil, on canvas under-painted with acrylic. It measures 50cm by 40cm and is  framed in a waxed, obeche wood tray frame. There is a narrow gap between the canvas edge and the frame. The overall framed size is 55.5cm x 45.5 cm

Painting tip: “Finding the right colour for flowers is hard. I had to repaint these foxgloves three times before I was really happy with them. The extra effort and perseverance is worthwhile though.”  Sue Newham
