I’ve been visiting Montgomery Castle for about 35 years, and I just love the views from the castle mound, with a chequered plain of fields and hedges, stretching towards distant hills. I think this is my third painting in this location. I chose a tall thin canvas for this, rather than a more conventional rectangle, because it gave an opportunity to draw attention to different layers in the view.

The size of the oil painting is 76cm by 30cm.
