View from Montgomery Castle, oil on canvas, £550, (plus postage and packing)

 

I’ve been visiting Montgomery Castle for about 35 years, and I just love the views from the castle mound, with a chequered plain of fields and hedges, stretching towards distant hills. This view looks over the Welsh Marches towards Shropshire. This is my third painting from the castle. I chose a tall thin canvas for this, rather than a more conventional rectangle, because it gave an opportunity to draw attention to different layers in the view.

The size of the oil painting is 76.5cm by 30cm. It is painted around the edge of the canvas, so can be hung unframed if desired.
